ONOMOTION opens new location with high-profile guests
Berlin, 29. September 2022 – ONOMOTION opens its new location, further expanding its leadership role as one of Germany’s largest e-cargobike manufacturers. The industry is growing and the demand for innovative mobility solutions for urban areas is increasing. The aim is to radically rethink urban mobility. In order to implement this project, there is no alternative to a productive exchange of ideas between a wide range of players.
“In the age of digitalization and transformation, efficient networking is crucial. At our new location, we can bring together development, service, production and management more closely and coordinate growth precisely,” says Beres Seelbach, co-CEO and co-founder of ONOMOTION, in his strategic assessment of the opening of the site. In order to achieve the goal of producing several thousand ONOs annually, the site will be further digitalized and automated in the coming years: “Step by step, we will further develop the assembly hall, build assembly lines, adapt work levels and connect the 10 work islands that have existed to date into a flowing system,” says Philipp Kahle, co-CEO and co-founder of ONOMOTION.
In fact, the need for logistics and mobility to catch up on the road to climate neutrality is glaring after years of clear prioritization of the car. Holistic approaches that take into account rising expectations in terms of low-emission mobility and logistics are indispensable in this regard. “Meeting the challenges of urban mobility requires a high level of collaboration – and the logistics sector is no exception. City hubs as a result of cooperation between logistics companies and providers of existing real estate promote city-friendly logistics – and fine distribution via cargo bike is then the municipal favorite variant,” says Hilmar von Lojewski, Head of the Department of Urban Development, Construction, Housing and Transport.
The opening was rounded off by keynotes from various business representatives. Representatives of DPD, Hermes and UPS as well as the management of the Bundesverband Paket- und Expresslogistik (Federal Association of Parcel and Express Logistics) came together to initiate the necessary productive dialog between politics, urban planning and business.
The biggest challenges facing the logistics industry culminate in the discussion about the last mile. E-commerce is breaking all records, but more innovative, custom-fit and networked solutions are needed to meet the high sustainability goals. ONOMOTION is addressing this transformation as one of the largest e-cargo bike manufacturers and is now taking the next step towards the logistics industry of the future with the opening of its new location.
